How to Reverse a Video Online in 3 Steps

A browser video reverser for effects, loops and analysis.

Step 1

Upload your video

Drop in an MP4, MOV or WEBM clip up to 1 minute — effects takes, sports moves, camera pushes all work.

Step 2

Choose audio handling

Reverse the audio in sync for ambience and comedy, or mute it for speech and music you'll re-dub later.

Step 3

Export

Render the reversed video at full quality and download it instantly — nothing to install.

When a video reverser helps

Un-breaking effects

Shards fly back together, water flows uphill, cards leap back into the deck — reversing turns any destructive moment into a magic trick.

Sports & dance analysis

Watching a jump, kick or drop in reverse exposes the force sequence — where it starts and how it travels through the body.

Free camera moves

Reverse a push-in to get an instant pull-out, or a pan right to get a pan left — two moves for the price of one shot.

Comedy loops & easter eggs

Join a clip with its reversed twin for an endless loop, or hide backwards speech and writing for viewers to discover.

Video Reverser FAQ

Is this video reverser free?

Yes. You can reverse clips in the browser without installing software. No signup is required to use the tool.

Is reversing the same as rewinding?

No. Rewinding just scrubs the player backwards. Reversing builds a new file with the frame order flipped — the export genuinely plays backwards on any platform.

Should I reverse the audio or mute it?

Reverse it for ambience, water, impacts and comedy — backwards sound is half the effect. Mute it for speech or music: reversed voices are unintelligible. You can always re-add audio afterwards with the free audio merger.

Will reversing reduce quality?

Reversing requires one re-encode, but the original resolution, duration and frame rate are preserved. At the default quality the difference is virtually invisible.

Why is there a 1-minute limit?

Unlike a lossless cut, reversing buffers every decoded frame in your browser's memory. Shorter clips keep the process fast and reliable — trim a longer take first with the video clipper, then reverse the part you need.

What formats are supported?

MP4, MOV, WEBM and AVI inputs work. MOV files are delivered back as MOV for Apple editors; everything else comes back as MP4.

Will my file be uploaded to a server?

No. Reversing runs entirely in your browser using WebAssembly. Your video never leaves your device — nothing is uploaded, queued or stored.

Is reversing the same as flipping?

No. Reversing changes the time order of the frames; flipping mirrors the picture without changing playback order. If you need a mirror effect, use the video flipper instead.
