How to Split a Video into Parts in 3 Steps

A browser video splitter for creators turning long footage into many clips.

Step 1

Upload your video

Drop in an MP4, MOV, WEBM, AVI or MKV file — up to 10 minutes and 200 MB. Nothing leaves your device.

Step 2

Choose how to split

Equal parts, a fixed duration per clip, or your own cut points (30, 1:20, 2:05). Review the segment list before cutting.

Step 3

Download your clips

Splitting is lossless — stream copy, no re-encode. Download each part or grab them all at once.

Three ways to split

Pick the mode that matches the job — switch between them any time before you cut.

Equal parts

Split into 2–30 equal clips. One long take becomes a week of daily posts in a single click.

By duration

Set a fixed length per clip — 15 seconds, 60 seconds, any length — and let the tool compute the segments.

Custom cut points

Type exact timestamps (30, 1:20, 2:05) and cut precisely where the story turns.

When a video splitter helps

Short-form series

Turn one long take into a TikTok, Reels or Shorts series — split into parts, post daily, build the loop.

Podcast & interview highlights

Cut an hour-long recording at the moments that matter and ship each highlight as its own clip.

Tutorial chapters

Split a course or demo into chapter-sized files students can jump between.

Messaging & email limits

Files too big to send? Split into parts that fit WhatsApp, Telegram or attachment caps.

A/B test creatives

Split an ad into hook variants and test which opening earns the watch.

Livestream VODs

Slice a stream replay into consumable segments before publishing the replay.

Video Splitter FAQ

Is this video splitter free?

Yes. Splitting runs entirely in your browser, so there is no server cost to pass on — no account, no watermark and no usage limits.

Will splitting reduce the video quality?

No. The splitter uses lossless stream copy: it cuts the existing video and audio streams into segments without re-encoding them, so every part keeps the exact original quality. Only when a codec cannot be copied into the output container does the tool re-encode that single part.

How accurate are the cut points?

Lossless cutting snaps to the nearest keyframe, so a cut starts at the keyframe on or before your exact timestamp — typically within a second or two on phone footage and editor exports. Videos with sparse keyframes (some screen recordings, animations) can carry more of the lead-in into a clip. That snap is what makes splitting instant and lossless; re-encoding tools cut frame-perfectly but take far longer.

What are the length and size limits?

Videos up to 10 minutes and 200 MB are supported. Everything is processed in your browser's memory, so very large files depend on your device.

What video formats are supported?

MP4, MOV, WEBM, AVI and MKV inputs. MP4, MOV and WEBM outputs match the input; AVI and MKV inputs are delivered as MP4.

What is the difference between splitting and trimming?

Splitting turns one video into multiple clips — every part is kept. Trimming keeps just one section and discards the rest. If you only need one piece of a video, use duration or custom mode here and keep the part you want.

Can I split a video by file size?

Not directly. Instead, use the duration mode: check your file's size, divide by the number of parts you need, and set a per-clip length that lands under your target size. Because splitting is lossless, clip size is proportional to clip length.

Is my video uploaded to a server?

No. The splitter runs on ffmpeg compiled to WebAssembly inside your browser tab. Your video never leaves your device — you can even go offline after the page loads.

Can I download all the clips at once?

Yes — hit Download all and every part saves in sequence. Your browser may ask once for permission to save multiple files.
